<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I feel bad for the people in Cuba this has hit, as they got hit so many times last year and now the panhandle again. In the late 1990s I was contemplating moving to the panhandle (Pensacola) as we used to go there when I was a small child and the water there is so pretty, a deep blue-green. But they get a lot colder in winter than it does here and they seem to get hit by hurricanes more than any other part of the state. I'm glad I came back to this area.

By Sunday should be a shell hunter paradise down on the beaches, it was after Ivan and Dennis seems poised to follow the same exact track. I spent the afternoon on the beach today and found quite a few shells already (red tide seems to be 90% better than it was last weekend) Came home and dumped them in my fountain in the yard.

I suspect you all in Cincinnati may end up with more rain from this storm than I do by Tuesday or so...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If you take your eye off the dotted red line for a second and ponder the predicted possible range of paths, Hurricane Dennis may well graze the west coast of Florida, causing hurricane force winds - and I'm sure excessive amounts of rain.

According to the US Weather Service map I've provided in the link I've provided below, the Tampa area has a 20-49% chance of having the eye of the hurricane pass within 75 miles of it.

Cincinnati, by comparison, has zero chance of having the eye of any hurricane pass within 500 miles of it.

Oil production in the gulf has been halted, and it looks like dennis is heading for the Mississippi/Alabama/Louisiana coast.

Gas prices are sure to drive up prices for everything, and cutting off production for even a couple of days is sure to make that happen quicker.

Depending on the source, 4-8 inches of rain predicted for the Tampa area as of Saturday and tropical storm force winds.
